U.S. Coast Guard Activities Baltimore, commissioned December 9, 1995, was a result of integrating MArine Safety Office and Group Baltimore. Activities Baltimore was the first of several prototype commands established by the Coast Guard's national streamlining plan. Activities Baltimore provides equal, or better service, at less cost to the tax payer, by serving as the "one stop Coast Guard shopping center" for the upper Chesapeake Bay."
