Teaching & research in the maritime field. In the High nautical School of Gijón - University of Oviedo, The MAritime Field Investigation Group (MaFIG-UniOvi) is constituted.

The MaFIG-UniOvi components are professors and researchers of the University of Oviedo (UniOvi), that impart their teaching in the High Nautical School of Gijón (HNSG). The HNSG was the first nautical school world certified by ISO-9002/94 rules in accordance with STCW Code. The certification was carried out by the Lloyd's Register and credited by UKAS in date December, 19 of 2000. The MaFIG-UniOvi components are Captains or Marine Engineers, most of them are doctors, and could supplement with doctors in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, etc.
