Norse Cutting & Abandonment AS (NCA) provides equipment and services within rigless well operations, cutting services and onsite machining. We are a norwegian company with our main office in Stavanger, but provide equipment and services to both the North Sea basin, the Gulf of Mexico, the Middle East and South East Asia. Our main strength is our innovative approach towards traditional challenges combined with long practical and operational experience. This results in simpler and more cost-efficient working methods and equipment. Our operators are well qualified and experienced. Engineering expertice is held inhouse in order to meet our client's requirements and to be able to implement our ideas in a fast and efficient manner. We hold several patents within both well operations, cutting methods and machining tools.

NCA have developed concepts for rigless Plug & Abandonment which combines new downhole methods and technologies with conventional services like Wireline, Coiled Tubing and Snubbing. In addition NCA have developed new surface jacking systems in order to eliminate the requirement for a drilling rig during these kinds of well operations. NCA's main focus with regards to P&A is to minimise the risk for leakage after permanently plugging and abandoning the well. With conventional methods the success rates of achieving tight and lasting barriers towards both produced zones and already leaking annular are very poor. NCA have therefore developed new methods and tools in order to improve this success rate. NCA holds a unique expertise in analysing the wells and evaluate minimum requirements for surface equipment packages. During 1999 and 2000, NCA personnel played a key role in a study performed by Phillips Petroleum Company Norway that developed new and alternative approaches to rigless Plug & Abandonment, enabling P&A to be performed by Coiled Tubing and simple jacking systems. NCA holds the legal rights of an international patent for milling with Coiled Tubing that improves the P&A quality and eliminates the use of rig for many wells. Selection of surface equipment will always be dependent on the well status and complexity. The simplest wells are possible to plug with only wireline, pumps and simple jacking systems or hoists. With increasing well complexity the surface equipment requirement increase correspondingly to Coiled Tubing and jacks, Snubbing Units, and finally to drilling rigs. Many of the P&A challenges with rigless solutions are connected to milling requirements, which to a great extent is solved through NCA's patent. NCA's specific P&A services include: - P&A Engineering, planning and project management - Coiled tubing milling - in co-operation with Bakke Oil Tools. - Downhole cutting of multiple casing at seabed using abrasive water jet - Jacking of multiple casing / conductors - Surface sectioning of multiple casing / conductors Together with BJ Services, NCA can supply integrated systems based on Coiled Tubing for the North Sea.
