I have the total responsibility for the day-to-day management of the materials, logistics and quality roles involved in supplying a jack-up based drilling operation. I am responsible for the management of requisitions for materials and services pertaining to the Armada Phase II drilling project and expediting the shipment of all materials, equipment and personnel to the rig site. Whilst mainly involved with the daily operation of the rig I also have the responsibility for planning and ordering materials and equipment for future wells in the project. I am also responsible for ensuring that movement of waste materials from the installation conforms with the company waste management and transportation programme, which deals with the segregation and transportation of general and hazardous waste from the installation, which I continue to monitor for efficiency and adherence to mandatory regulations. June 1996 to Nov 2001. Company : Petrogramme Management Services Ltd. - Agency For Texaco North Sea Ltd. Position Held: Materials & Logistics Co-ordinator - Drilling & Sub-sea Group. Working predominately from an onshore base, but offshore when required, I have the total responsibility for the day-to-day management of the materials, logistics and quality roles involved in supplying a platform based drilling operation. I am responsible for the management of requisitions for materials and services pertaining to the Captain drilling project utilising the SAP business management system, and expediting the shipment of all materials, equipment and personnel to the rig site. This involves procurement of services such as air, sea and road transportation and quayside inspection of relevant certification. I also sit in regular forums to discuss and implement any changes to our air, sea and road transport procedures made necessary by the ever changing regulations & directives from the H.S.E., D.E.T.R., or changes introduced as a result of E.E.C. directives. Although already responsible for the shipment of dangerous goods, it was as a result of the many changes in legislation, that I decided to take the examinations and qualify as a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor. I am responsible for ensuring that all persons supplying any materials, equipment or services to the project adhere to all aspects of the company's quality policies. On the financial side, I am further involved in the day to day cost monitoring, to ensure that the supply of materials and services remain accountable and within budget. This I achieve through constant financial monitoring of the SAP system and daily interface with the departmental cost engineers. Whilst mainly involved with the daily operation of the platform, I also have the responsibility for planning materials for future wells, safety and quality training and assessing the suitability of suppliers of personnel and rental equipment for the same and ensuring that any vendor selected has a quality management system in place and complied with. This is achieved by a pre-contract audit and continued auditing of our contractors and suppliers on a regular basis. Last year I introduced an internal quality auditing procedure, by which we audit our own shipping department, which is ongoing. Last year I introduced a waste management and transportation programme, which deals with the segregation and transportation of general and hazardous waste from the installation, which I continue to monitor for efficiency and adherence to mandatory regulations. May 1991 to March 1996. Company : Petrogramme Management Services Ltd. - Agency For Conoco U.K. Ltd. Position Held: Conoco Drilling Materials Co-ordinator. Utilising an outline well plan for guidance, my work was to collate and requisition all the materials and equipment required to commence and maintain the drilling & work-over operations of a jack-up drilling rig. The utilisation of a data base in order to maintain registers of all quality, procedural and mandatory certification pertaining to any equipment or materials destined for use on board the rig. The utilisation of the S.A.P. network system for the input and maintenance of purchase requisitions, rental orders and stock inventories. The raising of all necessary manifests, customs or other documentation necessary for transportation by air or sea. The raising and maintaining a record of all dangerous goods certification pertaining to equipment transported to or from the rig. The collation of personnel transport requirements to and from the rig on a daily basis and the raising of the daily cost reports to management. I also acted in the capacity of assistant to the Conoco Drilling Supervisor in any other administrational duties he may deem necessary for the smooth operation of the rig. Feb. 1989 to May 1991. Company : G.N. Symons Services. For Conoco U.K.Ltd. Position Held : Drilling Materials / Deck Co-ordinator. Work involved was similar to my present position, but my responsibilities were more on the day-to-day operational levels. I was also responsible for supervision of all deck movements, chemical and bulk materials handling, and bunkering of all liquid bulks. I was responsible for the safety awareness of the deck crew and the maintaining of the S.T.O.P. safety observation and training programme. The collation of various costs for input to the daily drilling report, and acting in a support role for the Conoco Drilling Supervisor in any other duties required of me. March 1987 to Feb. 1989. Company : G.N. Symons Services. Various Clients. Positions Held : Construction Industry - Q.A. / Q.C. / Q.S. During this period I worked for clients, both within and outside the Oil & Gas industry, and was employed on construction & shutdown projects for SLPC Ltd., Press Construction Ltd., R.M. Installations and Ebor Alloys Ltd., in a number of Materials Management and QA / QC roles. I was involved with the initial set up of quality systems both offshore and onshore, and subsequently continued in a QA role controlling many types of documentation such as stage submission, welding, N.D.T., commissioning and acceptance reports. During this period I prepared a considerable number of quality work packs ready for partner and competent authority quality audits. During this period I also undertook a number of third party quality and safety audits on behalf of my clients. March 1978 to Feb. 1987. Offshore Materials Controller / Administrator / Marine Co-ordinator. During this period I worked on the Brent Field platforms and my services were retained by three companies when contracts changed hands. These companies were Solus Schall Ltd., London Bridge Engineering Ltd., and Aberdeen Marine Oil Developments Ltd. My duties were supervision of material control, carrying out of inventories & the maintaining of registers. Raising of all documentation for the manifesting of materials, ensuring the appropriate certification for dangerous goods and customs were available, and assisting with inter-field materials transfers and logistics etc. Responsible for the administration of all flight manifests for crew change and also very extensive inter-field shuttling involving up to 12 installations. I was also responsible to the O.I.M. for the allocation of all accommodation, lifeboat & muster stations and performing all duties required to conform to the emergency procedures manual. I also carried out H.L.O. duties if required, liaising with crane operators and air crews to ensure the safe and efficient helideck operation for the installation. Aug. 1977 to Jan. 1978. Code books for preparation of documentation for the carriage of dangerous goods by sea, and also awareness of C.O.S.H.H. in the offshore environment, for which I have my own course notes and visual aides. In recent years I have been involved in Safety Auditing and was invited to participate on behalf of Conoco, in a seminar held by DuPont, titled "Managing Safety & Techniques That Work For Operations Managers”. I have also written Quality Manuals, Policy Manuals and Workplace References for a company involved with oil-field fabrication projects, a number of which I had already successfully produced for small companies involved with the oil & gas industry.
