About

The Company has a history from 1883 and has substantial world-wide activities within several segments: Dry bulk, Chemical tankers, Gas carriers, OBO carriers and Ship Management

Camillo Eitzen & Co was established in 1883 by tall ship Captain Camillo Eitzen and is one of the few Norwegian companies with the longest experience and traditions in the shipping industry. Captain Camillo Eitzen started his career in the ship owning company of Gustav Conrad Hansen of Tønsberg, Norway. This company is recognised to be the first owner in the world of tankers to transport oil in bulk directly in the holds in 1877. The company was active in all parts of the shipping business from the early days and the long history and experience through more than a century started when Captain Camillo Eitzen bought the company in Kristiania - now Oslo. In 1894 tall ship Captain Henry Tschudi became joint owner; and in 1936 the company changed name to Tschudi & Eitzen. During 2003 the two owners of the company, Mr. Felix H. Tschudi and Mr. Axel C. Eitzen, both being 4th generation ship owners, decided to divide the company into two new shipping companies - however maintaining the ship management activities in TESMA Holding AS as a jointly owned company. Mr. Axel C. Eitzen, being the descendant of the founder, decided to rename his company “Camillo Eitzen & Co AS” and is now the sole owner of Camillo Eitzen & Co AS. By choosing this historic name, Mr. Axel C. Eitzen wishes to emphasize the importance of basing its activities on more than 120 years of experience. Camillo Eitzen & Co AS is today an international, integrated and diversified Ship Owning, Ship Operating, Ship Managing and Marine Service group with emphasis on project development and organic as well as non organic growth based on in-depth knowledge of the markets in which the group is active.
