Colby Haines, President/Owner, Colby Communications Corporation® Colby Haines formed the agency in 1994 following a rewarding 19-year career in the transportation industry with two stevedoring companies. Concurrently, Haines lent her public relations talents to the Holiday Project, a nationwide non-profit organization. A member of the Public Relations Society of America, Colby Haines has extensive experience in public relations as well as print and broadcast media. She has performed and written for television, radio and theatre and has been published nationally and internationally for three decades. Additionally she is an accomplished screenplay writer and video scriptwriter for corporations and non-profit organizations. Haines is a summa cum laude graduate of Cal State University, Fullerton, with a BA in Communications, emphasis in Public Relations (2000), and MA in Mass Communications (2004). She also graduated from Leland Powers School, Boston, with honors, majoring in broadcasting and performing arts. Haines attended classes at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and completed courses and programs in public relations, marketing, communications, management, graphic arts and desktop publishing at CSULB, UCLA and various professional training institutions. Professional memberships and community involvement include the PRSA, Screen Actors Guild, AFTRA, Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, Long Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, International Business Association (board member), Women’s Council, Executive Shadow Day Program (former chair), World Trade Week, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, Kappa Tau Alpha National Honor Society in Journalism and Mass Communications, and Golden Key National Honor Society Comprehensive understanding of the business is the strongest foundation from which to create effective ad and public relations campaigns. Knowing the client’s philosophy, culture, current needs, future growth aims, and their target audiences translates into an understanding of the most effective type of advertising campaign needed to garner attention and attract business. Haines’ direct experience in marketing and sales with various steamship lines, transportation firms, import/export companies and ports; public relations experience in the media, radio and television; and services to other profit and non-profit organizations provides this solid foundation.
