ENSCO International Incorporated ("ENSCO") is one of the leading offshore oil and gas drilling contractors in the world. ENSCO has 50 offshore rigs servicing the domestic and international markets and operates a fleet of 28 oilfield support vessels in the Gulf of Mexico. ENSCO is focused on the offshore contract drilling and marine transportation businesses that are essential to oil companies in their worldwide exploration and development efforts. The Company owns and operates one of the world's largest fleet of premium jackup rigs. Thirty-five of the Company's 37 premium jackup rigs were added to the Company's fleet since 1992. Since 1995, ENSCO has invested over $700 million in upgrading the capability and extending the service life of its jackup fleet. The Company has an option to purchase a harsh environment jackup rig at a fixed price upon completion of the rig in the second quarter of 2002. The Company operates a high quality, modern fleet of rigs and boats with one of the most efficient cost structures in the industry. As a result, ENSCO's operating margins have been consistently among the highest of contract drilling companies. ENSCO's strategy is to maintain a conservative capital structure. The Company had approximately $337 million of cash reserves and a long-term debt to capitalization ratio of 24% as of March 31, 2002.As the result of the Company's strong balance sheet, ENSCO has the financial flexibility to pursue additional growth opportunities.
