About
Interior Decorative Wall Systems for Marine applications in Accommodation Areas meeting all requirements of SOLAS, IMO and the FTP Code.
Thermax Marine Paneling for preventive fire protection Fire protection regulations according to SOLAS require noncombustible construction materials for the interior outfitting, and in certain areas, also for furniture. It is of paramount importance for the safety of passengers and crew onboard ships that all materials used for the construction of ships and equipment are fully in compliance with the fire protection requirements of the SOLAS Convention. Thermax boards meet all relevant requirements. Thermax is made from Vermiculite, a natural inorganic mineral. Vermiculite (aluminum-iron-magnesium-silicate) belongs to the mica minerals group. The raw Vermiculite is exfoliated by a high temperature heat treatment and expands to a light weight aggregate which is mixed with inorganic binders and pressed to form boards. The boards do not contain asbestos or other mineral fibers and are non-toxic. Thermax boards are used for decorative fire rated walls, linings and ceilings in accomodation areas and public spaces on all types of seagoing vessels and offshore platforms. Thermax has more than 25 years of experience with Vermiculite boards in the shipbuilding and offshore industry with constant development to improve the quality of our products and enlarge the field of application. Our laboratory, equipped with state of the art instrumentation, constantly monitors raw materials and production to ensure consistant high quality. The fabrication, and all related activities, are certified to ISO 9001. Our partner for sales in North America is based in Temple, Texas, and carries a sufficient large inventory for immediate shipment of raw Thermax boards and/or laminated panels. Thermax fire protection products are manufactured in Austria not far from Vienna. More than 80 % of the total production is exported worldwide. Thermax SN boards are noncombustible according to the new IMO FTP-Code (Resolution MSC, 61 [67]) Part 1 and Part 2 and are approved for A, B and C class. Thermax SN is tested according to IMO Resolution A 754 (18). Thermax SN is approved by all major marine approval agencies including USCG, CCG, DNV, Lloyds etc. and has approvals according to the new EC Marine Equipment Directive which are valid throughout the European Union and are accepted by many flag states outside the EU. Thermax surfaces can be covered with any approved materials desired by decorators and architects. Combined with laminates, wood-veneers, wallcoverings, paints, ceramic and marble tiles, stainless steel and aluminum sheets, Thermax meets the aesthetic requirements of the most demanding interior designers. With postforming laminates, rounded edges and all kinds of formed, or even curved, panels are possible. These possibilities are of special interest for public spaces of cruise ships and ferries. Latest developments in technolgy resulted in a significant weight reduction for wall and lining panels. The density of the boards can be reduced by approximately 15 %. Products and Services THERMAX fire protection systems are typically used as a barrier to fire in order to prevent its spread and ensure containment. The materials required, approvals, and technical know-how are offered as a packaged system to ensure state-of-the-art solutions at a cost-competitive price. THERMAX MARINE panels are light, self-supporting, and together with the available metal profiles, form a complete system of fire resistant partitions, ceilings and floorings for use on ships and offshore platforms. 19 mm laminated Thermax panels are approved for freestanding constructions for B-15 specification, and against a steel bulkhead in conjunction with mineral wool, to satisfy the requirements for A-60 specification. THERMAX DOUBLE SHELL PARTITION SYSTEM For Marine and Offshore use,the double shell is a light weight system with high sound reduction (40dB) which allows the possibility to remove any individual panel for replacement, inspection or maintenance . Electric and telecom cable and some piping can be installed in the void. Switchboxes can be inserted into the wall panels without interference with the fire rating. For fixing of heavy items like washbasins and furniture the upright posts can be replaced by stronger rectangular tubes. FURNITURE. For many years THERMAX boards have successfully been used as core material for the manufacture of non-combustible furniture. In the construction of furniture, the mechanical strength such as screw extraction and bending strength have an increased impact. THERMAX has developed a special furniture board which meets these requirements.
