About
FESCO is Russia's third largest shipping company operating a fleet of 77 vessels with a total deadweight of 1 million metric tons. It is headquartered in the Russian Pacific port of Vladivostok.
10 years ago FESCO made a strategic decision to reenter the USA market after a long break, with the aim to gradually re-instate their tramp & liner services and agency network. The agency company, FESCO Agencies North America (FANA) was formed and registered in the state of Washington on January 24, 1992 to serve FESCO’s vessels calling the U.S West Coast. In the early nineties of the last century the bilateral trade between USA and Russian Far East started growing and FESCO took full advantage by commencing a regular liner service between USA and the Russia Far East. That was a remarkable time for FESCO’s business and FANA’s growth. This service became a catalyst for trade development between the two countries. Fesco’s expansion into the American market offered economic and cultural links between the two countries. The shipping volumes of consumer goods from the USA to Russian Far East grew quickly within the first few years and FESCO remains a prime carrier offering door to door transportation in this particular area. Commencement of the container liner service between USA, Australia and New Zealand in 1994 was a step forward and as a consequence FESCO established it’s own agency network in the Pacific Rim. FESCO’s business volumes in USA and Canada grew rapidly and FANA became a multifunctional organization with several branch offices in California, the Midwestern U.S. and Canada. Within a couple of years FESCO became a major player in the Australasian shipping market with a good reputation among its customers and contemporaries. During 2001, FANA appointed WTS Agencies as sub-agent to perform back-room agency functions in North America. FANA is also represented by Robert Reford in Eastern Canada and Carolina Shipping Agencies in South Atlantic States. The integration and rationalization trend in international shipping has also effected FESCO. FANA management have worked hard to find suitable partners for its liner and agency services, while at the same time retaining the independence that FESCO has maintained for more than a century. Today FESCO Australia North America Line (FANAL) provides a twice-weekly service to Australia and New Zealand including Pacific Islands, with the most competitive transit time. In the year 2001, Logistic Management and Distribution Magazine recognized FANAL as a Best Quality Carrier and Leader in the USWC / Australasia trade lane. Our team demonstrated excellence in five critical components of “logistics excellence”, on-time performance, value, information technology, customer service, and equipment & operations. The “Quest for Quality” gold medal award is an example of our continued efforts to become the best-valued carrier to our customers. FESCO continues to operate a container liner service between the Pacific Northwest and Russian Far East. This service provides a weekly connection to any Russian inland destination year round. Even through the hardest northern winter seasons FESCO uses it’s own fleet of powerful icebreakers to meet it’s commitments and deliver cargo through icy seas. FESCO offers their customers a full range of transportation options by providing its own fleet of container, timber, refrigeration, bulk, general purpose, RO-RO and heavy lift vessels to the any point on the globe.
