Svitzer Limited offers a comprehensive world wide offshore surveying service with expertise covering all aspects of seabed and sub-seabed survey data acquisition and management, as well as inspection, engineering, mapping, positioning, geotechnical and ROV services. Whilst primarily working for the Oil and Gas Industry, Britsurvey/Svitzer Ltd also conduct deep ocean cable route surveys, feasibility studies, exploration seismic interpretation projects and deep water bathymetric and site surveys. The purchase of a new vessel, equipped to undertake 2D seismic data acquisition, and swathe bathymetry systems on three of our five vessels has placed us at the forefront of hydrographic survey data acquisition and presentation, both for regional and engineering surveys. This expertise in conjunction with our expanded network of DGPS services, now covering both the North Sea and the Irish Sea underlines a continuing commitment to supply our clients with the highest quality hydrographic data available. A comprehensive pool of geophysical, surveying, positioning and ROV equipment installed on our vessels and available for mobilisation to world wide locations enables us to offer a truly comprehensive surveying service. This is supported by extensive data management, interpretation and reporting facilities. These include seismic workstations, for interpretation and integration of 2D and 3D datasets, a complete seismic processing centre, AutoCAD and Intergraph mapping stations and a dedicated 3D seismic interpretation and evaluation team.

Svitzer Limited is based in Great Yarmouth with an affiliate office in Esbjerg, Denmark. The company commenced trading in May 1987 with less than 20 employees. Now employing 159 people and established in their own premises, turnover has risen from £576,000 in 1987 to £19 million in 1998. The company offers a comprehensive world-wide offshore surveying service with expertise covering all aspects of seabed and sub-seabed survey data acquisition and management, as well as inspection, engineering, mapping, positioning, and geotechnical services. Whilst primarily working for the Oil and Gas Industry, Svitzer Ltd also conduct deep ocean cable route surveys, feasibility studies, exploration seismic interpretation projects and deep water bathymetric and site surveys. The company owns three survey vessels, namely the "Svitzer Mercator", "Svitzer Magellan" and the "Svitzer Meridian" and charters two others, The "L'Espoir" and "Tridens I". All the vessels work on a world-wide basis. Presently the "L'Espoir" is undertaking survey operations which will see her travel around South America calling at Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, US Virgin Islands, Panama, Colombia, Peru and Chile. Svitzer Limited use the very latest technology on all of our survey vessels and in our Great Yarmouth Headquarters, producing reports, charts and plans. The company is regarded in the industry as producing survey reports and maps of the very highest quality. The company’s new offices at Morton Peto Road provide an ideal environment for producing these final products. Svitzer Limited were proud to receive the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement in 1998, based upon export performance between 1994 and 1996, during which time exports increased from 29% of turnover to 40% in 1996. The figure for 1997 showed a further increase to 50% and it has recently been announced that Svitzer Limited have been awarded the Queen’s Award for Export Achievement in 1999, based on these results.
