Norsul Offshore SA is a Brazilian company specializing in offshore maritime services and vessel operations.

Companhia de Navegação Norsul is the largest private Brazilian Shipowner, being the shipping arm in Brazil of the Lorentzen Group, controlled by the Lorentzen's family, which have been settled in Brazil since 1953. Apart of shipping investments, which also includes the shipbroking office Riobroker (Lorentzen, Platou & Figueiredo) Ltda., the group has important participation in other major Brazilian companies, such as Aracruz Celulose S.A. The group participates in the control of Aracruz Celulose S.A., the largest bleached woodpulp producer in the world, having as co-partners Anglo American Mining Co., from South Africa, and the Safra Banking Group, of Brazil. The Lorentzen family exert a leading role in developing Aracruz's project since its inception, through its start of operations in 1978, and till the present, where the company produces about 1,3 million tonnes of pulp per year, mainly for the international market. CIA. DE NAVEGAÇÃO NORSUL Established in 1963, Cia. de Navegação Norsul is the leading Brazilian private owned shipping company, having transported over 6 million tonnes of bulk and neo-bulk cargoes yearly. Norsul has in its fleet twelve wholly owned bulkcarriers, ranging from 16,000 DWT up to Panamaxes. Norsul also operates eleven vessels on long term time charter, as well as many others employed on short period and voyage basis. Since the incorporation of the sister company Norsul Internacional S.A., which operated in regular services, specialized in forest products, by Cia. de Navegação Norsul, in September 1995, both companies have been operated under a management headed by Mr. Hugo Figueiredo. The incorporation of the two companies and the different areas that each one was engaged, resulted in the division in three departments within Cia. de Navegação Norsul, the Open Hatch Department (DIOPEN), the Liner Department (DICONT) and the Bulk Department (NORSULBULK). SERVICES DIOPEN is responsible for commercial and operational management of Norsul's regular lines operating in the following services: 1) Europe Service This service is operated in cooperation with Leif Hoegh & Co. from Norway, being Norsul the managers of the service, with regular sailings from Brazil and Argentine to North Europe, with backhaul directly to Brazil via USAC and West Coast South America. The vessels engaged in this service, MV "Harmac Dawn", "Hoegh Mistral", "Mascot" and "Cielo d'Europa", are all open hatch box shaped, equipped with gantry cranes, of 31,000 up to 45,000 DWT. The main commodities carried are woodpulp, paper, lumber, hardboard and frozen concentrate orange juice in bulk, loaded in special tanks adapted for the vessels. 2) Westcoast Service This service is fully operated and managed by Norsulk with sailings from Brazil and Argentine to West Coast North America, via Panama Canal and Magellan Strairs, also employs four open hatch box shaped vessels, with gantry cranes, i.e. MV "Alberni Dawn", "Icepearl", "Seapearl", "Borc" and "Norsul Paraná". This service is again specialized on forest products, steels, newsprint and other neo-bulk commodities. DICONT is responsible for commercial operation of Norsul's regular lines operating in the following services: 1) Far East & Japan Service "Good Hope Express Service, G.E.X." is a joint service with N.Y.K. (Japan), CSAV (Chile) and Norsul, operating a full container service, offering fixed-day weekly service from Japan/Far East to ECSA via South Africa and vice-versa. For this service the partners operate twelve full container vessels, being two of those vessels "Norsul Ipanema" and "Norsul Icarai" operated by Norsul. All vessels are newly built, each with capacity of 1,500 TEU's including 200 TEU's reefer. 2) Mercosul Service Weekly Full Container Service covering Argentine and south of Brazil, from Rio Grande up to Rio de Janeiro where door service is offered. DIGRAN is responsible for all Norsul's bulkcarriers (NORSULBULK) employed within the ECSA coastal trade, as well as the conventional bulkcarriers involved on the international trade. Norsul has been the leading Brazilian shipowner engaed in the dry bulk transportation within the East Coast South America, with a wide range of bulkcarriers, suitable to attend nearly all the movements in the region, such as Iron Ore, Bauxita, Wheat, Maize, Soya Pellets and other agricultural products, Sugar, Salt, Alumina, Steel Products etc. Based on the firm intention to achieve the best standard of operations, Cia. de Navegação Norsul has developed and maintains a special quality program, through the certification of ISO 9002, obtained in 1995, and is presently concluding the certification with ISM Code.
