Schelde Gears is an independent company of the Royal Schelde Group, a Dutch group of industrial companies, part of the Damen Shipbuilding Group. The company has more than 80 years experience in the design and manufacture of gears, from the comparatively simple to the most complex systems. Over the years nearly 400 naval and merchant ships fitted with steam or gas turbines, diesel engines or combined propulsion systems have been equipped with Schelde Gears reduction gears. Major features of Schelde Gears’ products are an outstanding level of quality combined with a very high performance reliability. To meet these high standard, gears are manufactured in a temperature-controlled workshop on high precision machinery, using stringent procedures, which cover not only production, inspection and testing, but also engineering and procurement. The high quality is well demonstrated by the fact that Schelde Gears reduction gears are internationally renowned as the most silent in operation.
