A full service shipyard located on the Columbia River, approximately 20 miles east of Portland, Oregon, Sundial Marine is organized as a marine repair facility, servicing Pacific Northwest barges, tugs, fishing vessels and various government vessels, for the purpose of providing quality ship and vessel repair, conversion and new construction.

Our firm is marine company organized primarily for the purpose of ship and vessel repair, conversion and construction. Our company has successfully served this purpose for many years. It has grown and evolved to meet the dynamic needs of the marine industry and our customers. SUNDIAL MARINE started in business 27 years ago mainly as a marine construction yard, supplying the Columbia River basin with grain and petroleum barges, and new tugs and fishing vessel's. As the company has expanded, we have undertaken the repair and conversions of various sized vessels, from 60 foot long tugboats, up to 300 foot long barges. Our repair program includes construction and repair of Government ships and barges for the U.S. Coast Guard, the Port of Portland, and the Army Corps of Engineers. Our customers also include a large variety of river transportation operators and fishermen. SUNDIAL MARINE is conveniently located at river mile 120 on the Columbia River, just west of the mouth of the Sandy River, near Troutdale, Oregon. Our facility, comprising 26 acres of land, is within 2 miles of Interstate 84, 6 miles of the Portland International Airport, and 15 miles of down-town Portland. The facility has approximately 1200 feet of pier space, one (1) 248 foot long floating drydock with a capacity of 2100 tons. SUNDIAL MARINE has a 300 foot long by 60 foot wide set of end-launch building ways. SUNDIAL MARINE has a 2,000 square foot lay out and erection slab, with portable covers, which is serviced by a 30-ton track mounted crane. In addition, we have 5,000 square feet of covered shop area, serviced by overhead cranes, to support additional sub-assembly. Our facility has one (1) 50-ton mobile truck crane, one (1) 50-ton crawler crane, and two (2) mobile hydraulic cranes with capacities of 20 and 25 tons. In addition, we have a track mounted gantry crane with a capacity of 34 tons, and two (2) pneumatic tired cranes with 18 and 24 ton capacities. Our main office complex houses our management, accounting, engineering, contracts, purchasing, and estimating staff. Our history has been anchored by a solid reputation for quality workmanship and competitive prices. Our track record includes a large variety of successful new construction activities, modernizations, and upgrades. Our company has employed up to 100 production personnel. Currently we are employing approximately 35 production employees. SUNDIAL MARINE has high quality welders certified with American Welding Society, the United states Coast Guard, the United States Navy, and American Bureau of Shipping. Our team of marine experts has the in-house capability of accomplishing the following: * All phases of construction involving fitting and welding, including steel and aluminum * Mechanical repairs to steering systems, propellers, propulsion shafting, reduction gears, main propulsion and auxiliary diesel engines, valves and pumps * Marine piping repairs and renewals on steel and copper-nickel piping systems * All types of marine rigging. We have qualified riggers and crane operators, with sufficient portable equipment to accomplish a wide variety of rigging tasks. * Finally, SUNDIAL MARINE has on-site capabilities to accomplish surface preparation to SP-10 near white metal requirements, and airless spray painting. Our coating personnel are familiar with surface preparation and preservation on large equipment and vessels. SUNDIAL MARINE has accomplished numerous preservation projects, for both commercial and government contracts, during our 27 years of operation.
