Paul Smith, the firm's principal, is a marine solicitor having qualified in 1975. He is a member of the Baltic Exchange, the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and a member of the documentary committee of the BALTIC AND INTERNATIONAL MARITIME COUNCIL (BIMCO). He is also the Vice Chairman of the Documentary Committee of FONASBA. He is therefore well qualified to advise and assist clients with most types of maritime disputes but specialises particularly in ship arrest, commercial litigation and arbitration and assisting clients with drafting of documentation including charterparties, bills of lading, standard conditions of trading etc. He is the editor of the Ship Arrest Handbook published by Lloyds of London Press.
