About

EPS provides 'best-in-class' petroleum engineering software, IT integration skills, petroleum engineering services and training to achieve breakthroughs in performance and increased value in upstream oil and gas assets. Using intelligent systems, engineers have been able to streamline and automate the production engineering tasks associated with asset management. It is important to note that since no two fields or reservoirs behave exactly alike, there is no standard solution-set that yields optimized production. Some fields already have existing infrastructure consisting of SCADA systems that can be used. Others require a new approach. EPS engineers perform a detailed asset inspection that identifies the problem areas; then they develop well and surface network models that describe optimum results; finally, they implement online systems that monitor and optimize hundreds of critical parameters. The ability to gather and interpret data online as well as implement many of the changes electronically, allows extremely complex tasks to be performed effectively with minimum manpower and expense. We call this approach to sustainable production optimization, Intelligent Asset Management (i-AM). We've been developing the technology and processes to support i-AM for the past three years and have proven its value in three implementations to date.

The i-DO or intelligent daily operations system is our first commercial i-AM solution. It includes the engineering consulting, software technology and implementation necessary to help our clients optimize production in a dynamic way by monitoring and responding to data gathered in the course of daily operations. Previously a time and labour-intensive manual process, the analysis of daily reports often yielded marginal results and costs exceeded benefits. As a result, optimization was performed off-line and often became a task that was performed infrequently. The i-DO optimization capability is automated and online. It can be applied without modification to a wide range of production optimization problems, including downhole controls in smart wells and intelligent completions. Application of sound engineering principles leveraged by powerful technology is the key to EPS' AIM-GAIN-SUSTAIN process for production optimization. Now proven around the world, the three-stage process automates daily production engineering tasks formerly performed manually. The AIM (Asset Inspection Methodology) phase defines and prioritizes asset opportunities and builds a business case for implementation. During the GAIN phase, well and surface network models are built and recommendations are made to increase uptime and improve deliverability. At its heart is the i-DO™ intelligent online daily operations system that continuously optimizes well and surface network parameters to improve asset performance and deliver early paybacks. The production increase in the AIM and GAIN phases funds the SUSTAIN stage, where new production optimization technology is implemented, processes are fine-tuned, and people are trained to sustain profitability over the asset's life. For 20 years EPS has been delivering engineering software solutions, consulting and training to E&P companies world-wide. With offices in Aberdeen, Caracas, Dubai, Edinburgh, Houston, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing and Moscow, our teams of engineering consultants work with customers to adapt our software technology and consulting services to meet their local needs.
