Van der Heide Cathodic Protection & Corrosion Engineering Marine Corrosion Services Company profile: Van der Heide Cathodic Protection concept for Marine industry is based on ICCP system variations. By van der Heide ICCP - system can be applied for - Hull Protection - Thruster tunnel - Water Jets - Aluminum Ferries

VAN DER HEIDE CP&CE - MARINE CORROSION PROTECTION SERVICES Van der Heide specialises in the design, production and supply of Cathodic Protection Systems for Marine and other industrials segments. Additionally van der Heide is able to serve clients in many technically demanding tasks combining our wide experience in corrosion theory, lightning protection, over voltage protection and electrical safety aspects. Main products and services for the marine industry include: · IMPRESSED CURRENT CATHODIC PROTECTION (ICCP) FOR THE HULL · THRUSTER TUNNEL PROTECTION SYSTEM · WATER JET TUNNEL PROTECTION SYSTEM · SPECIALS; PROTECTION OF ALUMINIUM VESSELS · SPECIALS; BOX COOLER PROTECTION UNIT IMPRESSED CURRENT CATHODIC PROTECTION (ICCP) FOR THE HULL The hull ICCP system includes high-quality automatic controlled CP rectifiers, MMO coated titanium anodes and high purity zinc reference electrodes. Van der Heide electrodes are typically recessed type and can be modified for heavy ice-going conditions. Shaft and rudder grounding systems include the normal delivery. Shaft grounding system can be delivered with an unique cleaning system that will improve the safe function of this very important equipment. Hull ICCP system and shaft grounding system can both be fitted with a remote monitoring feature in order to easy the work load of the crew and to help unexpected trouble shooting. THRUSTER TUNNEL PROTECTION SYSTEM Thruster tunnels are typically protected with sacrificial zinc or aluminium anodes. However ,van der Heide can offer an alternative benefiting the use of ICCP technology. Compared to the use of sacrificial anodes the system has slightly higher investment cost but becomes more cost-effective after couple of years. Additionally the system keeps the protection level more stable in varying conditions. System can be provided for steel and aluminium vessels. WATER JET TUNNEL PROTECTION SYSTEM Water jet tunnels suffer often of galvanic corrosion because of the presence of different materials that are connected to each other. The situation is very much similar to the thruster tunnels. However, because of the almost continuos use the system the paint and material failures are much more severe. The tunnels are also under very powerful mechanical stress thus making every corrosion pit a possible starting point for more severe problems i.e. cracking. Water jet protection system can be provided for steel and aluminium vessels. SPECIALS; PROTECTION OF ALUMINIUM VESSELS It’s most often advisable to use sacrificial anodes to protect aluminium hull, because of the risk of serious over protection problems. However as mentioned before VDH ICCP system can be used to stop pitting corrosion problems in thruster and water jet tunnels. SPECIALS; BOX COOLER PROTECTION UNIT Cathodic protection as well as the use of different materials can cause various interference and stray current problems that could increase the corrosion rate locally. Our skilled development team is able to solve problems like that in an effective way. A good example is CDU® (electronically controlled draining unit) that is designed to protect CuNiFer box coolers manufactured by Weka Marine bv. VDH INTERNATIONAL NETWORK With all your queries you can contact van der Heide direct, but in order to serve you better we have created an international network with our partner Weka Marine.
