Kherson Seafarers’ Training Centre was formed as one of the first non-state maritime training establishments with approval of Ukrainian Maritime Administration. Centre is one of the few similar Ukrainian educational establishments included at the official edition Lloyd's Ship Management - LSM Guide to Worldwide Maritime Training. Education and training of seafarers is based on the IMO model courses and requirements of international agreements about professional training of maritime staff.
Kherson Seafarers’ Training Centre was formed as one of the first non-state maritime training establishments with approval of Ukrainian Maritime Administration in 1991 as structural branch of shipping company CORDO International. In 1999 Centre singled out in the independent enterprise under the title as Kherson Seafarers Training Centre. Centre is one of the few similar Ukrainian educational establishments included at the official edition Lloyd's Ship Management - LSM Guide to Worldwide Maritime Training. Education and training of seafarers is based on the IMO model courses and requirements of international agreements about professional training of maritime staff. Classrooms and equipment, including specialized simulators and hotel complex, are situated at the board of the training vessel «Captain Ostapenko», that is situated at the picturesque part of Dniper river’s mouth. Centre is is completed by simulators’ equipment, manuals and materials in accordance with IMO and national requirements. The training process is favourable affected by the fact, that lessons are held at the training vessel in the maximum approximate conditions. Training is conducted at Russian, Ukrainian and English languages with usage of technical aids and control of knowledge. 35 highly qualified instructors and teachers work at the Centre, they are former professional merchant and navy seafarers. Centre offers services to other maritime educational establishments in acquirement of equipment and materials for providing of the full training of maritime staff. Kherson Seafarers’ Training Centre is included into Ukrainian association of educational establishments for Survival at Sea and it is a full member of International Association for Safety and Survival Training (IASST). Aims, goals and also business policy are subdued to the idea of training the highly qualified maritime staff of all levels from seaman to master, and to rise of seaman’s status that got training at the territory of Ukraine. Maritime training at Kherson Seafarers Training Centre is conducted on 35 training courses and issue of certificates of competence is conducted on 12 sailors proffessions. In a hotel complex of the training vessel "Captain Ostapenko" is possible accomodate and feed up to 12 persons in comfortable single, double cabins and lux-cabins.
