Major non-profit making association of French (and European) Surveyors, which brings together on a nation-wide scale, Marine Professionals whose academic qualifications, technical skill and marine experience allow them to practice in the surveying fields of commercial shipping, fishing, yachts and pleasure crafts, river crafts, underwater interventions, ship building and repairing etc…

In 1975 a group of Marine Surveyors got together and founded the UNION PROFESSIONNELLE des EXPERTS MARITIMES (UPEM), a non-profit making organisation which brings together on a nation-wide scale, Marine Professionals whose academic qualifications, technical skill and marine experience allow them to practice in the surveying fields of commercial shipping, fishing, yachts and pleasure crafts, river crafts, underwater interventions, ship building and repairing etc… UPEM is one of the Founders of the FEDERATION of EUROPEAN MARITIME ASSOCIATIONS of SURVEYORS and CONSULTANTS (FEMAS). Also member of Cluster Maritime Français, of Institut Français de la Mer, of Commission Marine et Océanographie of the Conseil Supérieur de la Météorologie Nationale, of CUSH through the Services Hydrographiques et Océanographiques de la Marine. UPEM launched the Diplôme Universitaire d’Expert Maritime together with the Merchant Marine School and the University of Le Havre. Furthermore UPEM is associated to the Department of Information of the UNITED NATIONS ORGANISATION (UNO) and is recognized by the INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER of COMMERCE at PARIS.
