SERMETAL Shipyard is located in Guanabara Bay at Rio de Janeiro Brazil on the same facilities of the former ISHIBRAS Shipyard a Japanese Owned company that during 40 years delivered more than a hundred new buildings of vessels , off-shore units , floating docks and many other jobs on the Heavy Industrie. Our skillforce of 1600 people is basically constituted of former works of the new building/conversion projects. On our facilities we have the biggest Dry-dock in South America which may handle up to ULCC of 400.000 DWT vessels on one Dock and up to 20.000 DWT vessels on a smaller dock. There are several shops for steel fabrication , piping , machining , outfitting , blasting and painting and in all this shop there are overhead cranes with lifting capacity up to 100 Tons. Surrounding the big dry-dock there are four Cranes meaning 300 Tons , 200 Tons , 100 Tons and 20 Tons that make possible lifting weights up to 320 Tons combining two cranes. -Total ground area is 160.000 m2 .Total berth length is 790 m -Internal railway with external connections to Brazilian railway net. Finally after Vessels construction is complete all tests may be carried out even in the Dry-dock due to various facilities or on Shipyards berth and on Anchorage area at Guanabara Bay were the Draft is about 17,0m and the Hydrostatic tests for cargo and ballast tanks may be performed.
