Each segment plays an important role in the delivery of products to consumers, and each is dependent upon the other. Refining Crown and its La Gloria Oil and Gas Company subsidiary (collectively the "Company") own and operate two strategically located, high conversion refineries with a combined capacity of 152,000 barrels of crude oil per day—a 100,000 barrel per day facility located in Houston (Pasadena), Texas, and a 52,000 barrel per day facility located in Tyler, Texas. Both are operated to generate a mix of products. On average, the output of the refineries is 55% gasoline, 33% distillates (such as diesel, home heating oil, jet fuel, and kerosene), 6% petrochemical feedstocks, and 6% slurry oil and petroleum coke. These products are delivered from the refineries via pipelines to terminals, where they are either sold on the wholesale market or slated for sale at the Company’s retail outlets. Wholesale The Company’s 13 product terminals serve markets in Texas, the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, and the Mid-Continent. Eight are located along the Colonial and Plantation Pipeline systems, which both originate on the Gulf Coast and run through the southeast to Maryland and Virginia. In addition to the terminal at the Tyler refinery, the Company operates four product terminals along the Texas Eastern Products Pipeline system, which runs through the mid-continent. In addition to serving the Company’s retail requirements, these terminals supply gasoline, heating oil, diesel fuel and other refined products to other refiner/marketers, jobbers and independent distributors. Retail Crown presently has 346 retail outlets in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern U.S. These can be found in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama. Three basic store formats are used: convenience stores, which operate primarily under the name Fast Fare®, mini-marts and gasoline stations. Each is designed to emphasize quality, value, cleanliness and friendly and efficient customer service. Of the 346 outlets, 224 are company-operated; 100 are Dealerships (Maryland law prohibits refiners from operating gasoline stations) and 22 are Branded Distributorships.
