Shuttlelift Incorporated is a subsidiary company of Marine Travelift, Inc., Sturgeon Bay, WI, manufacturers of rubber tired self-propelled straddle-cranes and related products for the marine industry. Shuttlelift was incorporated in January of 1987 to manufacture and market industrial material handling machines including large mobile gantry cranes. The new models of ISL and SL industrial gantry cranes provide many new operational and technical features for more versatile, faster, and safer handling of large, bulky loads that are difficult to handle and transport any other way. The new Shuttlelift machines provide a whole new generation of ideas and features to the industrial crane industry. Shuttlelift executives point out that these gantrys have resulted in more versatile, faster and easier handling of large components, structures, and products. A wide range of custom design options permits the material handling operator to tailor the gantry to his specifications. Shuttlelift gantrys are particularly time saving for many different applications including for lifting prestressed concrete beams, module homes, steel plate, large components or other handling problems that defy conventional handling techniques. The Shuttlelift Mobile Gantry has been widely accepted...because of its speed and efficiency in large material handling operations. Carrydeck cranes were originated by Drott Manufacturing of Wausau, Wisconsin in 1959. Production of the Drott 60RM2 (nicknamed the Go Devil 60) began in 1960. In 1962, Drott upgraded the unit to the very popular 85RM2. The 85 nomenclature stood for 8,500 lbs. of lift capacity. Drott built the smaller 20RR2 and larger 160RR2, 200RF2 and 250RF2 Carrydeck cranes. J.I. Case, a Tenneco company, purchased Drott in 1968. Case continued production of the 85RM2 through 1976. Capacity of the later 85RM2's was upgraded to 10,500 lbs. In 1977, Case introduced the all new 3330, 7.5 ton capacity Carrydeck crane. Case manufactured several thousand cranes of this size before discontinuing production in 1984. Shuttlelift, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Marine Travelift, Inc. of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin purchased the Carrydeck product line from Case in 1988. Shuttlelift President, Gerald Lamer, was a Carrydeck project design engineer for Drott on the development of the first Carrydeck cranes. Later, Gerald was the Chief Engineer of the product line until 1975, when Gerald and his brother Allan purchased Marine Travelift, Inc. Shuttlelift began production of Carrydeck cranes in 1988 with the improved model 3330C and low profile version 3330CL. Shuttlelift introduced the vastly upgraded 3330D in 1991. The transport height of the "D" model was reduced below 8 ft., so the low profile version was eliminated. Model "D" improvements include capacity increase to 8.5 tons, optional four wheel steering, ring and pinion swing system, and smoother/faster hydraulic controls. In 1994, Shuttlelift introduced the new "E" and "ELB" series Carrydeck cranes. Changes included a full powershift transmission, a new swingout - offsettable jib, a low profile boomhead, underdeck storage compartment and numerous other changes. The most exciting year at Shuttlelift was 1999 with the introduction of the new 3340, a completely revamped 9 ton (8.1 mT) crane and the 7750RT, a 20 ton (18.1 mT) crane. Excitement rises high amongst our dealers with a new line of cranes to sell in the new millennium. The year 2000 brought the introduction of the new 5560B, an 18-ton (16.3mT) unit with new controls and improved cab. In excess of 6,000 Carrydeck cranes have been manufactured by Drott, J.I. Case and Shuttlelift. We stock spare parts for all versions. Gerald Lamer is company president and general manager and Allan Lamer serves as vice president of sales and marketing. The main company office, engineering, assembly plant, and service operations are located at the Sturgeon Bay plant. Large structural components for the marine and industrial cranes are fabricated and machined at Amerifab Corporation (a subsidiary company of Marine Travelift, Inc.).
