Oceanic Consulting Corporation is an ocean engineering firm based in eastern Canada that provides services in marine performance and design evaluation to the international marketplace. The firm specializes in physical and numerical modeling of ships, offshore structures, motor and sailing yachts, underwater vehicles and other marine systems Oceanic is an alliance of the National Research Council of Canada, Memorial University of Newfoundland, and Marineering Limited (a Newfoundland-based ocean engineering firm). Oceanic is the commercial front door to one of the world’s most comprehensive collections of marine research facilities and specialists. The firm has the capability to simulate nearly any extreme marine environment and the expertise to provide advice on projects ranging from concept designs for offshore installations to modifications of existing vessels for improved performance to comparative evaluations of designs for grand prix racing yachts. Facilities include: 200m and 58m towing tanks, an offshore engineering basin, a 90m ice tank, a cavitation tunnel, a flume tank, motion simulators and a range of computational tools. Expertise includes extensive experience in performance assessments of ships, offshore structures, small craft, and survival equipment in a range of conditions from arctic environments to extreme seas. Services provided include: seakeeping assessments, powering assessments, wake surveys, maneuvering studies, flow visualization tests, computer simulations, concept design assessments, full scale and at sea trials and related services.
