This multidisciplinary marine research focuses on phenomena and mechanisms in coastal and shelf seas as well as the open ocean and involves close co-operation between physicists, chemists, geologists, biologists and technicians. NIOZ supports advanced marine research and education at universities by initiating and facilitating multidisciplinary and sea-going research embedded in national and international programmes. The research is performed in laboratories, in large seawater facilities and on board research vessels.
