Core divisions include the existing BarcoVision and BarcoView divisions, as well as the newly created Barco Control Rooms, Barco Media & Entertainment and Barco Presentation & Simulation divisions. These last three divisions came into being as a result of the strategic reorganization of BarcoProjection into three independent divisions on 1 January 2004. This refocus underlines Barco’s strategy to operate as close as possible to the customer and to enlarge the international segment of its various markets, without cost increase. As such, the reorganization is in line with Barco’s market-oriented approach that is characteristic of the company’s operations and a key factor in Barco’s successful growth. To further increase efficiency and thus substantially reduce cost, all subcontracting activities of the Barco Manufacturing Services division have been consolidated into a single location in Belgium and one in the Czech Republic.

In 1972 we broke ranks with Dahl-Beck Electric (our current parent company) and became incorporated under our current name. In the early days we supplied Dahl-Beck and other marine contractors in the bay area with the marine electrical apparatus essential for the electrical repair and retrofitting on board shipping vessels at the Port of San Francisco. We continued to operate as a specialty marine electrical distributor at 2nd and Howard Street (San Francisco) until 1981 when Bill Beck and George Vaio spearheaded our move to an 18,000 square ft. facility in Emeryville California to better serve the Port of Oakland container vessels and the terminal facilities located there. Today we find ourselves once again under the same roof as our parent company Dahl-Beck Electric where we operate within an even larger 46,000 square ft. and more efficient facility in Richmond California. Over the years we have taken on many industrial lines and have become one of the largest independent electrical distributors in the San Francisco Bay Area. Just last year we acquired Potter Electric of San Francisco which gave us a strong position in both the entertainment and government electrical markets. We are a third generation family owned and operated company with active principals in all three Beck Industry companies. The Beck family prides itself on being reasonable people who care about the history and future of this business, and the extremely dedicated employees who make us shine on a daily basis. Please don't hesitate to call and ask for Bill, Roger, Ray or Ron Beck if you ever have a complaint, concern or special request. We hope you take a few moments and look at our website to further inform yourself on the wide array of specialty items and manufacturers we represent.

Broadwater Energy has been formed as a joint venture between TransCanada Pipelines Corporation (TCPL USA LNG, Inc.) and Shell US Gas & Power LLC to address energy shortages threatening the Long Island Sound region of New York and Connecticut. Broadwater plans to build and install a facility resembling a large ship, to be moored in Long Island Sound between CT and NY. The facility will receive imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from LNG tankers. LNG will be "re-gasified" at the floating facility and transported by underwater pipeline connecting to the existing Iroquois gas pipeline for further distribution. By 2010 Broadwater would be safely and reliably delivering a large new supply of clean-burning natural gas to homes, businesses and power generation plants. Please click on the website icon above for a detailed explanation of the Broadwater LNG Project. Your input will help Broadwater build a project compatible with the public interests in the region.
