It has a mooring front of 754 feet, a classification yard of 226,042 sq. ft., and service and storage facilities; it is capable of operating year round with a draft of 9 feet. This port is protected against fluvial erosion during the rising water season by a system of coastal defence formed by a watertight clay embankment covered by bunk mattresses and stone gabions.
