Koyo Dockyard covers a total area of 500,000 square meters. The section for building new ships includes a building dock equipped with one 800t and two 200t Goliath cranes, an ocean development work platform. There is also a block assembly plant fitted with the latest automated machinery and equipment located in the western part of the shipyard. The repair dock, one of the world's largest, is located in the centre, together with the supervisory office, general office and company dormitory. The steel yard is equipped with shot blast, NC, flame planer, EPM, FCB and a pipe plant is located in the eastern part. The building of large ships reputedly requires a yard 10 times larger than the berth with a material storage yard, processing plant, assembly plant and quay for mooring the ship after launching. A high productivity, well laid out shipyard equipped with the latest production methods is essential to meet the demand for ever larger ships.
