The Antwerp Maritime Academy (Hogere Zeevaartschool) is the only institution in Belgium providing maritime training on academic level. The premises are situated between the city and the port of Antwerp, near one of the older locks giving access to the docks. The academy depends from the Ministry of Education, Flemish Government and is associated with the University of Antwerp, Hogeschool Antwerpen, Karel de Grote-Hogeschool and Plantijnhogeschool.
