Since September 1st, 1993 the Port Consortium is in charge of the administration and exploitation of the Bahía Blanca harbor complex.
In fact, it became the first independent harbor in Argentina, under the National Government's umbrella of privatizations and transfers of all the Argentine harbor systems, which had belonged to the State for decades.
