Economic Growth Group, founded in 1970, established a Marine Division in 1984. Our marine professionals specialize in working with business owners, senior executives andthier advisors in the marine industry to develop estate preservation strategies, business succession plan, pension, retirement and insurance plans. Our staff of 85 designs and adminsters plans for businesses and executives including: ship owners and operators, charterbrokers, consultants, bunker brokers, naval architects and marine engineers, admiralty attorneys, ships agencies and oil traders, among others. Sorie Knox and rick Wien are Co-Directors of the Marine Division. Sorie Knox spent 25 years in the maritime industry, both afloat as a tanker master and ashore in tanker operations following graduation from the SUNY Maritime College. He founded the Marine Division in 1984. Rick Wien, CLU joined Economic Growth Group in 1990, with 10 years of corporate and entrepreneurial experience. he received an MBA degree from Harvard Business School and a BS degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

The Surrendra Overseas Limited (SOL) was incorporated in 1948. The promoters, Apeejay Surrendra Group has 100 per cent stake in the company. The Apeejay Surrendra Group is a highly diversified industrial conglomerate engaged in the following business activities: Shipping Steel Engineering Tea Hotels Construction Real estate development Industrial trade Finance The SOL owns a fleet of five bulk carriers. Further, the company has placed an order for one new Panamax bulk carrier of 74,850 DWT from Hyundai Heavy Industries, Ulsan, Korea, to be delivered by June 2001. The turnover of SOL for FY1999-2000 was Rs. 578.63 million. Future plan The company has planned to acquire new and second hand Handymax and Panamax tonnage. There are also plans to diversify into shipmanagement, chartering and tanker operations.
