River Transportation transports approximately 25 million tons of coal annually to AEP generating stations on the Ohio and Kanawha rivers. In addition, the division delivers four to five million tons of coal and stone for outside customers. River Transportation maintains a fleet of 15 towboats, 2 Harbor boats, and over 600 barges. It also operates two maintenance drydocks where it performs repair work for AEP barges and towboats as well as other customers marine equipment.

The Chamber of Shipping has proudly served the international shipping industry community in British Columbia since 1923. Associate or Service Membership is offered to other entities which see value in a close relationship with the Chamber. The Chamber has 140 members, in total. The objects define a role of facilitation and interaction, in the interests of members, with all levels of government and the wider marine community. The President, Staff and Board of Directors are all actively involved in the work of the Chamber in fulfilling its mandate. This is achieved through their involvement in standing and adhoc committees devoted to key topics, for example,Ship and Port Operations, Navigation and Pilotage, Cruise, Liner, Legislation etc. The facilitation role is further exemplified through the Chamber's role in the registration of vessels under the Canadian oil spill regulations. The Chamber has also spearheaded the formation of an informal coalition, The Western Marine Community (WMC), with the aim of ensuring an equitable regional apportionment of the Coast Guard's cost recovery program.
