Airchime Manufacturing Co. Ltd., has been developing, manufacturing, and marketing acoustic signaling products since 1929. Airchime is a world class supplier of sound signaling products to various industrial sectors, including ship and boat building, railway/locomotive, and municipal emergency evacuation. Airchime was founded in 1929, at Vancouver, British Columbia, as a proprietorship with its principal emphasis being the manufacture of steam whistles for locomotives, ships, and factories. In 1948, the founder of the company invented and patented the first air horns which faithfully duplicated the sound of traditional steam locomotive whistles. This was necessitated due to the advent of the diesel locomotive. Airchime was incorporated in 1954. The company’s head office is located at Langley, British Columbia, Canada. The company owns and operates out of a 12,250 sq. ft facility constructed in 1996. Airchime products are also manufactured by licensees in the United States of America and Great Britain. The Airchime facility includes one of the largest anechoic test facilities in the world and employs state-of-the-art acoustical test equipment and instrumentation. Airchime is one of only a few companies in the world capable of original research and development of acoustic signaling products. Airchime manufactures over 150 different models of air, electric, and steam operated horns and whistles. In addition, the company has a complete line of accessory and control equipment available. Innovative product development and technology can be seen in Airchime’s Model KMJ/KM Series with such features as a self-draining design, low psi requirements resulting in energy efficiency, and cast in lightweight marine grade aluminum that provides excellent corrosion resistance. These KMJ Whistles are suitable for small workboat and commercial vessels under 75 meters (246 ft in length). The KMJ-SC self-contained units are ideal for the new fast ferry designs, casino boats, workboats and small patrol craft where an air supply is not available or desired.

The two product service lines that historically have helped maritime companies and self insured employers save millions of dollars has been, 1. Medical Nurse Case Management - where we receive notification of the injury claim within the first 24 hours and the nurse coordinates all the medical care advising our clients on the course of the medical portion of the claim. The benefits resulting in an earlier release to full duty or obtaining medical information early in the claim so that the employer or shipowner can be pre-warned if the injured party cannot go back to work or in the case of a passenger outlining and controlling reasonable rehabilitation costs. 2. On the back end of the claim there is Medical Bill Auditing, this is done by our Med-Check division, by nurses who review medical records, who search for CPT codes errors and look to alleviate any fraud or over exaggeration in medical billing. We audit all medical services of any kind in every state. The plaintiff attorneys in the U.S. along with a small portion of medical providers have been working together to escalate medical damages related to maritime accident claims. The Federal Jones Act and The Federal Long Shore Act does not limit liability awards on maritime claims and therefore it has become an arena for fraud and abuse. The maritime industry can defend against these claims with the proper use of medical cost containment services.

Safety at Sea Ltd (SaS) is a consulting company of naval architects and marine engineers specialising in the stability, design and safe operation of ships and advanced marine vehicles. The company is a commercial enterprise operating within the premises and in partnership with the University of Strathclyde through the Ship Stability Research Centre (SSRC), a world-leading centre of excellence on ship safety. During the early years of operation, SOLAS ‘90 and Stockholm Agreement upgrading has been the mainstream business of Safety at Sea. An excellent working relationship with its clients, based on close and effective collaboration, led Safety at Sea to capture 70% of the north-European market, and to succeed in building an unparalleled reputation as a team able to produce cost-effective and practical design solutions. In the wake of this initial success, Safety at Sea has now moved forward towards the full utilisation of the technology developed by SSRC in all aspects of ship design and operation, including: hull hydrodynamics, structural strength, seakeeping, manoeuvring, comfort, general arrangements, systems design, powering and propulsion. Naturally, ship safety still remains the core of Safety at Sea’s expertise, dealing with such diverse aspects such as intact and damaged stability, mustering and evacuation, structural reliability and fire safety.
