For more than forty years, Eurogrit BV has been a major producer and supplier of blastcleaning abrasives for surface preparation of metal and stone materials. The company has been known even longer as a renowned producer and supplier of specialty sand and gravel products. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our history The roots of the company’s activities date back to the year 1818, when Pieter van Loon established himself in the small village of Vreeswijk, as an independent supplier of sand quarried from a nearby riverbed. The company has subsequently been handed from generation to generation and continues to grow. After the 2nd World War, expansion was found in other materials such as fillers and flooring products. By then, silica sand was also being marketed as an abrasive for sandblasting. Gradually however, it became known that sandblasting carried a health risk through a condition of the lungs known as “silicosis”. As a result, in 1957, the Dutch government promulgated the Silicosis Law, which included the Sandblasting Decree, banning the use of (silica) sand for all sandblasting applications (in-house or outside, dry and wet alike) in The Netherlands. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Export By reacting swiftly to this new situation, the company has successfully managed to build up an important market position in the industry supplying a variety of abrasives that substitute and/or complement silica sand. In the early 1970s, the first export efforts were initiated, based on quality, speed and service and the company has since built a worldwide reputation as a reliable source of supply for virtually every kind of abrasive. A substantial part of the business is now export-related, with the company and its products represented in almost all parts of the world. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Our locations The companys headoffice is located in The Netherlands, at Nieuwegein - a municipality comprising the old village of Vreeswijk, the original founding place of the company. Modern production- and export shipping facilities are operated at both Nieuwegein and Dordrecht. The sales department at the Nieuwegein head office, services the Benelux countries and our export department is always on the alert keeping in touch with our customers and partners throughout the world. Location Dordrecht In 1988 a branch office was established in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to promote and sell our products in the Middle East. Our staff are a highly motivated team that is always ready to handle your orders and enquiries, quickly and efficiently responding to your questions or requests for advice. Originally known as Lake Mabel, Port Everglades was officially established as a deep water harbor in 1927 and has since grown to become one of South Florida's strongest economic engines with annual operating revenues of more than $66 million and total waterborne commerce exceeding 23 million tons in liquid, break bulk and containerized cargoes. More than 5,800 ships call at Port Everglades in a year forming the basis of a diverse maritime operation that includes a thriving cruise industry and a reputation as the "world's five-star cruise port," a growing containerized cargo business that establishes Port Everglades among the nation's top seaports, a major petroleum storage and distribution hub, South Florida's primary bulk cargo depot and a favorite U.S. Navy liberty port. The seaport is renowned for its commitment to ongoing capital improvements, environmental protection and convenient maritime operations with unbeatable connections through the adjacent Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport and the direct links with all of Florida's highway system via I-595. Where Exactly Is Port Everglades? Its name somewhat misleading, Port Everglades is not a part of the wetland ecosystem known as the Florida Everglades. The seaport is, in fact, located on the southeastern coast of the Florida peninsula within the three cities of Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood and Dania Beach, as well as unincorporated Broward County. It is approximately 23 miles north of Miami, 48 miles south of West Palm Beach and 312 miles south of Jacksonville. Port Everglades' jurisdiction encompasses a total of 2,190 acres (887hectares) which includes 1,742 acres of upland and 448 acres of submergedland. Upland acreage falls within the following municipalities: 1,242 acres or 71.3% of Port Everglades is located within the City of Hollywood. 232 acres or 13.3% is located within the City of Fort Lauderdale. 234 acres or 13.4% is located within the City of Dania Beach. 34 acres or 2% is located within unincorporated Broward County.

SKS OBO Limited, Bermuda, is a joint venture company owned by subsidiaries of Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Skipsrederi A/S, Norway(KGJS), and Compañia SudAmericana de Vapores S.A., Chile (CSAV). SKS OBO Limited controls 10 110,000deadweight and 1 96,000deadweight Ore-Bulk-Oil (OBO) Carriers. The concept of ships that are able to load both wet and dry cargoes is not new, however it has been refined in recent years to counter the operational shortcomings of earlier generations of such vessel. The criticisms levelled at older generations of OBOs have been answered one by one by the design of the vessels in the SKS fleet. Technical Management of the SKS fleet is handled by V.Ships Norway in Oslo. Commercial Management with Pine Limited in Bermuda, who through an agency agreement have appointed Pelican Shipping Limited in London as their Commercial Managers. KGJS has interests in other shipping companies, of which Gearbulk is probably the most well known. This makes possible certain economies of scale and a pool of knowledge in specific areas, of which SKS is able to take advantage. Both KGJS and CSAV are visionary companies with plans for the future. KGJS had ordered from Hyundai Heavy Industries in Korea a further two OBO carriers of 121,000dwt as well as a number of 160,000dwt Suezmax tankers for delivery during 2003. These will be commercially managed by Pelican Shipping Limited alongside the SKS OBOs.
