AEP Announces Leadership Changes at Appalachian Power and Nuclear Development

By MGN EditorialMarch 18, 2026 at 02:00 AM

American Electric Power has named new leaders for its Appalachian Power and nuclear development divisions.

American Electric Power (AEP), a major electric utility company, has announced leadership changes at two of its key business units. According to a press release from AEP, the company has named Brian Abraham as the new president and chief operating officer of its Appalachian Power (APCo) subsidiary. This move is intended to 'align with the company's strategy to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders across its service territories.' In a separate announcement, AEP also said that Aaron Walker has been appointed to a role in the company's nuclear development organization. Walker will take on this new position as AEP continues to explore opportunities in the nuclear power sector. 'These leadership changes will help ensure we have the right talent in place to execute on our strategic priorities and best serve our customers and communities,' said Nicholas K. Akins, AEP's chairman, president and chief executive officer. The Appalachian Power and nuclear development roles are important parts of AEP's overall business, which includes regulated utility operations across 11 states as well as competitive energy supply, transmission and renewable energy assets. The leadership transitions announced today reflect AEP's efforts to position the company for continued success in a rapidly evolving energy landscape. Industry observers will be watching closely to see how Abraham and Walker perform in their new roles and what impact they have on AEP's operations and strategic direction going forward.
