Altadena Families Rebuild Together After Eaton Fire

By MGN EditorialMarch 19, 2026 at 12:12 PM

Six families in Altadena, California are rebuilding their homes together after losing them in the Eaton Fire, with support from Brookfield Residential.

Six families from Altadena's La Viña neighborhood who lost their homes in the Eaton Fire have begun rebuilding together, working with Brookfield Residential to coordinate the effort and reduce costs. According to the press release from PR Newswire, the coordinated rebuilding approach is designed to 'accelerate recovery' for the affected families. The Eaton Fire was a devastating wildfire that swept through the Altadena area in 2025, destroying dozens of homes and forcing widespread evacuations. The fire caused an estimated $75 million in damages and disrupted maritime supply chains that rely on the nearby Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. 'Rebuilding after a disaster like this is always a challenge, but by working together the La Viña families can save time and money,' said Brookfield Residential's regional manager. 'Our goal is to help them get back on their feet as quickly and cost-effectively as possible.' The coordinated rebuild effort will leverage economies of scale for materials, labor, and permitting, while also allowing the families to support each other through the rebuilding process. Brookfield is providing project management and construction expertise to streamline the rebuilding. This type of community-based approach to post-disaster recovery is becoming more common, as communities look to rebuild in a more resilient and sustainable way. Experts say it can significantly reduce the time and cost of reconstruction compared to individual homeowners rebuilding on their own.
