Five Chinese gas carrier and floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) vessel projects have received approval in principle from classification society Bureau Veritas.

In a significant development for the Chinese maritime industry, Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore (BV) has awarded approval in principle (AIP) certificates for five gas carrier and FSRU vessel projects from Chinese shipyards and designers. According to the [Offshore Energy](https://www.offshore-energy.biz/five-chinese-gas-carrier-and-fsru-vessel-projects-receive-bureau-veritas-blessing/) report, the AIP certificates cover the following projects: - A 174,000 cbm LNG carrier design from Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding - A 174,000 cbm LNG carrier design from Jiangnan Shipyard - A 174,000 cbm LNG carrier design from Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company (DSIC) - A 174,000 cbm LNG carrier design from Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) - A 170,000 cbm FSRU design from Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding The AIP certificates demonstrate that these Chinese gas carrier and FSRU projects have met BV's technical requirements and safety standards, a crucial step towards final approval and construction. This news highlights the continued growth and innovation within China's maritime sector, as the country expands its fleet of specialized LNG vessels to support its energy needs and global trade. "These AIP awards showcase the technical capabilities of Chinese shipbuilders and designers in developing advanced gas carrier and FSRU solutions," said an industry analyst. "As global demand for LNG transport and regasification infrastructure grows, projects like these will be essential to meeting that demand."
