CMA CGM Launches Japan-Europe Express Service

By MGN EditorialFebruary 28, 2026 at 02:36 AM

CMA CGM is launching a new standalone Japan-Europe express service in April as cargo owners face reduced direct connections between the two regions.

In a move to address the drop in direct connections between Japan and the main markets of Europe and North America, French shipping giant CMA CGM has announced the launch of a new standalone Japan-Europe express service starting in April. According to the *Journal of Commerce*, the new service will provide a faster alternative for shippers moving cargo between Japan and Europe. The service is expected to appeal to cargo owners seeking more reliable and time-sensitive transportation options as supply chain disruptions continue to impact global trade routes. 'The new service comes as a response to the needs of our customers who are facing a reduction in direct connections between Japan and the main markets of Europe and North America,' a CMA CGM spokesperson told the *Journal of Commerce*. The service will operate on a weekly frequency, with a transit time of around 18 days from Japan to North Europe. CMA CGM did not provide details on the specific ports that will be served, but the company said the new offering will complement its existing Asia-Europe network. The launch of the Japan-Europe express service underscores the continued efforts by major container carriers to adapt their networks and service offerings to the evolving needs of shippers amidst ongoing supply chain challenges. As cargo owners seek more reliable and time-sensitive transportation options, carriers are responding with new dedicated services to key trade lanes.
