Everllence and ME Production Partner to Strengthen Scrubber Maintenance During Drydocking
By MGN Editorial•September 8, 2026 at 12:00 PM
Everllence has entered into a partnership with ME Production aimed at improving scrubber maintenance planning during drydocking, targeting early detection of issues before they escalate into costly repairs.
## Everllence and ME Production Target Proactive Scrubber Maintenance
Scrubber technology specialist Everllence has announced a strategic partnership with ME Production to enhance the maintenance and inspection of exhaust gas cleaning systems (EGCS) during scheduled drydocking periods, according to Seatrade Maritime.
The collaboration is designed to address a persistent challenge in the industry: scrubber defects that go undetected during routine operations and only surface — at considerable expense — once a vessel enters drydock. By integrating ME Production's expertise into Everllence's drydocking planning framework, the partnership aims to identify and resolve scrubber issues at an earlier stage, reducing both repair costs and unplanned downtime.
### Why This Matters
Scrubbers, or exhaust gas cleaning systems, have become a significant investment for many shipowners seeking compliance with IMO 2020 sulphur regulations without transitioning to low-sulphur fuels. With thousands of vessels now fitted with open-loop, closed-loop, or hybrid scrubber systems, the maintenance burden across the global fleet is substantial.
Deterioration of scrubber components — including wash water systems, nozzles, and absorber towers — can go unnoticed during normal voyages, only becoming apparent when vessels are out of service. Unplanned repairs during drydocking can significantly extend yard stays and inflate costs, making proactive inspection planning an increasingly attractive proposition for fleet operators.
The Everllence–ME Production tie-up positions both companies to offer shipowners and managers a more structured approach to scrubber lifecycle management, embedding maintenance checks into existing drydocking schedules rather than treating scrubber servicing as a reactive measure.
### Industry Context
The partnership reflects a broader trend within the maritime sector toward predictive and condition-based maintenance strategies. As scrubber fleets age and warranty periods expire, the commercial case for specialist maintenance partnerships is expected to strengthen. Shipowners are under increasing pressure to manage operational expenditure while maintaining regulatory compliance, making cost-effective scrubber upkeep a priority.
Further details on the scope of the partnership and the specific services to be offered under the agreement were not disclosed at the time of reporting. Seatrade Maritime, which first reported the tie-up, noted that the collaboration is focused on drydocking planning as its primary delivery mechanism.
