GTT Group Leads Mid-Sized Companies in Patent Filings

By MGN EditorialMarch 4, 2026 at 09:35 PM

GTT Group, a leader in membrane containment systems for liquefied gases, filed the most patents among mid-sized companies in France in 2025, highlighting its technological innovation.

In a sign of its strong focus on research and development, the GTT Group, a technological expert in membrane containment systems used to transport and store liquefied gases, announced that it filed 68 patent applications with the French National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) in 2025. This placed the company first among mid-sized enterprises (ETI) for patent filings that year. The GTT Group's patent portfolio expansion underscores its commitment to driving innovation in the maritime and energy sectors. As a leading provider of membrane containment technologies for LNG carriers, LNG bunker vessels, and other gas infrastructure, the company's ability to develop and protect new intellectual property is crucial to maintaining its competitive edge. 'Our sustained investment in R&D allows us to continuously enhance our technologies and services to better serve our customers in the liquefied gas industry,' said Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT. 'This recognition from INPI is a testament to the talent and dedication of our engineering teams.' The news comes as European natural gas prices have seen volatility in recent months, with prices dropping on Wednesday amid reports of a secret peace outreach to end the ongoing conflict in Iran. Innovative containment technologies from companies like GTT will remain essential to ensuring the reliable and safe transport of liquefied natural gas and other gases as the energy landscape evolves.
