Leading ocean carrier Hapag-Lloyd and logistics software provider WiseTech Global have launched a new initiative to provide real-time container visibility across 2 million containers.

In a significant development for the maritime industry, global container shipping line Hapag-Lloyd and logistics technology firm WiseTech Global have announced a new partnership to enhance container visibility. According to the announcement, Hapag-Lloyd will be testing WiseTech's container tracking capabilities across 2 million of its containers. This initiative aims to provide shippers and logistics providers with real-time updates on the location and status of their cargo as it moves through the supply chain. 'Improving end-to-end supply chain visibility is a key priority for Hapag-Lloyd and our customers,' said Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd. 'By partnering with WiseTech Global, we are taking an important step towards delivering more transparency and predictability in container logistics.' The partnership leverages WiseTech's global logistics execution platform, CargoWise, which integrates data from multiple sources to provide a unified view of container movements. This enhanced visibility is expected to help shippers better plan and optimize their logistics operations, reducing delays and improving supply chain efficiency. 'We are delighted to be working with a leading global carrier like Hapag-Lloyd to drive greater transparency and collaboration in the container shipping industry,' said Richard White, Founder and CEO of WiseTech Global. 'This initiative demonstrates our commitment to delivering innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of the maritime sector.' The move by Hapag-Lloyd and WiseTech Global aligns with broader industry trends towards increased digitalization and data-driven decision making in container logistics. As shippers and logistics providers seek greater supply chain visibility, partnerships like this one are likely to become more commonplace in the years ahead.
