HMM's US subsidiary Washington United Terminals Inc. has signed a contract with HD Hyundai Samho for four new port cranes at its Port of Tacoma facility, signalling continued investment in US West Coast terminal infrastructure.

## HMM's WUT Places Crane Order with HD Hyundai Samho Washington United Terminals Inc. (WUT), the US subsidiary of South Korean carrier HMM, has signed a contract with HD Hyundai Samho for the supply of four port cranes, according to Port Technology. The order represents a significant equipment investment at WUT's facility at the Port of Tacoma in Washington state. The terminal, which opened in 1999, spans approximately 510,000 square metres (126 acres) and features a 793-metre berth, making it one of the notable container handling facilities on the US Pacific Northwest coast. HD Hyundai Samho, the crane and shipbuilding arm of South Korea's HD Hyundai group, is an established supplier of port handling equipment to terminals worldwide. The contract underscores the continued demand for heavy port infrastructure investment as carriers seek to maintain and modernise their dedicated terminal assets. The move reflects broader trends across the container shipping industry, where major lines have been reinforcing their terminal operations to improve efficiency and throughput capacity. For HMM, strengthening WUT's equipment base supports the carrier's strategic presence on the transpacific trade lane, one of the world's busiest container corridors. Further details regarding the crane specifications, delivery timeline, and total contract value have not yet been disclosed. Industry observers will be watching for additional announcements as HMM continues to develop its global terminal network. *Source: Port Technology*
