Indian ambassador pitches opportunities for Korean shipbuilders and startups to expand into India's growing maritime and manufacturing sectors.

India is actively courting South Korean investment in its shipbuilding and maritime technology sectors, according to the Indian Ambassador to South Korea. Speaking at the launch of the Korea-India Future Forum, Ambassador Gourangalal Das urged Korean shipbuilders and startups to seek opportunities to expand into India. India is positioning itself as a global hub for manufacturing, technology, and maritime industries, and is looking to leverage its strategic location and growing economy. 'South Korean shipbuilders and startups should seek to expand into India to capitalize on India's drive to become a global hub for manufacturing, technology and maritime industries,' Das said, according to a report from *Hellenic Shipping News*. India has ambitious plans to develop its shipbuilding capabilities and transform its ports and logistics infrastructure. The country is investing heavily in new shipyards, port expansions, and maritime technology startups. Korean firms with expertise in these areas could find lucrative opportunities to participate in India's maritime growth. Das highlighted India's skilled workforce, cost-competitiveness, and favorable policies as attractive factors for Korean investors. He noted that the two countries have a strong trade and investment partnership, and said there is significant potential to deepen collaboration in emerging maritime sectors. The comments come as India and South Korea work to strengthen their strategic and economic ties. Maritime cooperation is seen as a key pillar of this relationship, as the two nations seek to harness their complementary strengths in shipbuilding, port development, and maritime technology.
