Kiewit Tapped for Brownsville LNG Module Fabrication

By MGN EditorialMarch 23, 2026 at 11:47 PM

Kiewit Offshore Services has been selected to fabricate liquefaction modules for the $5.7 billion Texas LNG Brownsville project in the Port of Brownsville.

In a significant development for the Lone Star State's burgeoning liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry, Texas LNG Brownsville has awarded Kiewit Offshore Services (KOS) the contract to fabricate liquefaction modules for its $5.7 billion LNG export project in the Port of Brownsville. According to an announcement from Offshore Energy, the Houston-based LNG developer, which is part of the Glenfarne Group, has tapped the construction and engineering services provider KOS to handle the in-state fabrication of the critical liquefaction equipment. This strategic decision aligns with Texas LNG Brownsville's commitment to supporting local economic growth and job creation. 'Kiewit's selection underscores our focus on maximizing the economic benefits of the Texas LNG Brownsville project for the local and state economies,' said Vivek Chandra, CEO of Texas LNG Brownsville. 'We are proud to partner with Kiewit, a leading provider of world-class fabrication services, to deliver this important LNG infrastructure for the United States.' The Texas LNG Brownsville project, which is currently in the pre-construction phase, is poised to become a significant player in the global LNG market. With a planned capacity of 4 million tonnes per annum, the facility will liquefy and export natural gas produced in the nearby Permian Basin, one of the world's most prolific shale plays. The selection of Kiewit, a respected industry player with a strong track record in offshore module fabrication, underscores the project's commitment to quality and operational excellence. As the Maritime Executive reports, Kiewit's involvement will ensure that the liquefaction modules meet the highest standards of safety and performance, positioning the Texas LNG Brownsville facility for long-term success. This announcement comes at a pivotal time for the U.S. LNG industry, which has seen a surge in global demand for American natural gas amid geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions. The Texas LNG Brownsville project, with its strategic location and Kiewit's expertise, is poised to capitalize on this market opportunity and contribute to the nation's energy security.
