By MGN EditorialFebruary 20, 2026 at 02:00 PM

LanzaJet secures $47 million in new funding and completes a Series A round at a $650 million pre-money valuation, further validating its Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ) sustainable aviation fuel technology and enabling growth.

LanzaJet, a leading sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) technology company, has announced that it has raised $47 million in new capital and completed a Series A funding round at a $650 million pre-money valuation. This latest investment round was led by existing investors International Airlines Group (IAG), Shell, Groupe ADP, LanzaTech, and Mitsui. According to the press release, the new funding will support the growth and commercialization of LanzaJet's proprietary Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ) technology, which converts ethanol derived from sustainable sources into sustainable aviation fuel. This latest round of financing is seen as a further validation of LanzaJet's SAF technology and its potential to help decarbonize the aviation industry. 'This investment is a testament to the progress we've made in developing and commercializing our ATJ technology,' said Jimmy Samartzis, CEO of LanzaJet. 'With the support of our investors, we are well-positioned to scale up production and make sustainable aviation fuel a reality.' The announcement comes as the aviation industry faces increasing pressure to reduce its carbon footprint. Sustainable aviation fuels like those produced by LanzaJet are seen as a crucial component in achieving the industry's goal of net-zero emissions by 2050. By utilizing waste-based ethanol feedstocks, LanzaJet's technology offers a scalable and sustainable alternative to traditional jet fuel. 'LanzaJet's technology has the potential to transform the aviation industry's approach to sustainability,' said Willie Walsh, CEO of IAG. 'We're proud to support their growth and look forward to working with them to incorporate their SAF into our operations.' The additional capital will enable LanzaJet to accelerate the construction of its first commercial-scale production facility and expand its research and development efforts. As the company continues to validate and scale its technology, it is poised to play a significant role in the aviation industry's transition to a more sustainable future.
