Scottish marine services firm Leask Marine has taken delivery of a new purpose-built Multi Cat vessel from Damen Shipyards, expanding its fleet capabilities.

Scottish marine services firm Leask Marine has expanded its fleet with the delivery of a new purpose-built Multi Cat vessel from Dutch shipbuilder Damen. The Multi Cat 2712 is a versatile workboat designed for a range of offshore and coastal operations, including subsea cable installation and maintenance, dredging support, and general marine construction tasks. According to Offshore Energy, the vessel features a 30-ton winch, 10-ton crane, and accommodations for up to 12 crew. 'This new vessel will allow us to further expand our service offering and better support our clients across a wide range of marine projects,' said Leask Marine Managing Director, Douglas Leask. 'The Multi Cat's combination of power, deck space, and flexible equipment makes it an ideal addition to our fleet.' Leask Marine provides a variety of offshore and coastal services to the renewable energy, oil & gas, and marine construction industries around the UK. The company says the new Multi Cat will complement its existing fleet of specialized workboats, tugs, and barges. The delivery of the new vessel comes as Leask Marine and other marine service providers continue to see strong demand for their capabilities, driven by growth in offshore wind, subsea cable projects, and other maritime infrastructure developments. As the energy transition accelerates, versatile vessels like the Multi Cat will play an important role in supporting these critical projects.
