MacGregor secures contract to supply a 400-ton active heave compensated subsea crane for a new South Korean floating wind construction vessel.

In a significant development for the offshore wind industry, MacGregor, a Cargotec company, has been awarded a contract to supply a 400-ton active heave compensated (AHC) subsea crane for a new floating wind construction vessel being built in South Korea. According to the [Offshore Energy](https://www.offshore-energy.biz/macgregor-subsea-crane-for-south-korean-floating-wind-construction-vessel/) report, the specialized crane will be installed on a vessel that will be used to support the construction and installation of floating offshore wind farms. The AHC technology allows the crane to maintain a stable load even in rough sea conditions, enhancing the vessel's capabilities for complex offshore operations. 'This contract further strengthens MacGregor's position as a leading provider of advanced crane solutions for the growing offshore wind sector,' said Magnus Sjöberg, Senior Vice President, Merchant Solutions division, MacGregor. 'Our subsea cranes are designed to meet the demanding requirements of offshore wind farm construction and installation, ensuring safe and efficient operations even in challenging environments.' The announcement comes as the global offshore wind industry continues to experience rapid growth, driven by increasing investment and policy support for renewable energy sources. South Korea, in particular, has emerged as a key market for floating offshore wind, with the country aiming to install 12 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030. 'This contract win for MacGregor underscores the company's technological expertise and its ability to deliver mission-critical equipment for the offshore wind sector,' said the editor of a leading maritime industry publication. 'As the industry scales up, specialized vessels and equipment like this subsea crane will be essential for supporting the construction and maintenance of offshore wind farms worldwide.'
