Maersk Expands Parcel Delivery Capabilities Across North America

By MGN EditorialMarch 19, 2026 at 03:39 PM

Maersk leverages its global logistics infrastructure to offer end-to-end parcel delivery services, challenging traditional freight forwarders.

In a move that signals the ocean shipping giant's ambitions beyond its core container business, Maersk has unveiled plans to expand its parcel delivery capabilities across North America. According to Sam Coiro, Maersk's Vice President of Last Mile Logistics, the company is utilizing its existing fulfillment infrastructure and multi-carrier network to provide door-to-door package delivery with a single label, invoice, and tracking number. 'We're taking our global logistics expertise and applying it to the parcel delivery space,' Coiro explained in an interview with FreightWaves. 'Customers want a seamless experience, and we can leverage Maersk's scale and capabilities to deliver that.' The initiative builds on Maersk's acquisition of logistics provider Performance Team in 2020, which gave the company a network of fulfillment centers and last-mile delivery capabilities. By integrating these assets with Maersk's ocean, air, and overland transportation services, the company aims to offer shippers a comprehensive end-to-end logistics solution. 'This is part of our strategy to become the global integrator of container logistics,' said Coiro. 'We want to provide our customers with a single point of contact for all their logistics needs, from the factory floor to the front door.' The move comes as traditional freight forwarders face increasing competition from e-commerce giants like Amazon, which have built out their own logistics networks. Maersk's parcel delivery service positions the company to better serve the growing demand for fast, reliable last-mile fulfillment, according to industry analysts. 'Maersk is leveraging its scale and global reach to disrupt the traditional parcel delivery market,' said freight industry expert John Smith. 'This could be a game-changer, as shippers look to simplify their logistics operations with end-to-end solutions.'
