New Asian Oil & Gas Explorer Emerges from Triangle Energy Spin-Out

By MGN EditorialMarch 17, 2026 at 05:19 PM

Western Australia-based Triangle Energy has announced plans to restructure its portfolio by carving out its assets in the Philippines into a new ASX-listed company, Tetragon Energy, focused on oil and gas exploration in Asia.

In a move to streamline its operations and focus on its core assets, Western Australia-headquartered oil producer and explorer Triangle Energy has announced plans to restructure its portfolio by carving out its assets in the Philippines. According to Offshore Energy, the restructuring will give birth to a new Asian-focused oil and gas explorer, Tetragon Energy, which will be listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). The new company will be led by Triangle Energy's current Managing Director, Conrad Todd, and will concentrate on exploration and production opportunities in the Philippines and other parts of Asia. 'The proposed spin-out of our Philippine assets into a new ASX-listed company, Tetragon Energy, will allow Triangle to focus on our core assets in Western Australia while providing our shareholders with exposure to the significant potential of our Philippine assets through their shareholding in the new company,' said Triangle Energy's Managing Director, Conrad Todd. The move comes as Triangle Energy looks to optimize its portfolio and capitalize on the growing energy demands in the Asia-Pacific region. Tetragon Energy will inherit Triangle's Service Contract 54 in the Philippines, which includes the Tindalo oil field. The new company will aim to leverage its local expertise and relationships to identify and develop additional oil and gas prospects in the region. 'We believe the Philippines offers significant opportunities for oil and gas exploration and production, and Tetragon Energy will be well-positioned to capitalize on these opportunities,' added Todd. The proposed spin-out is subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals, but if successful, it will create a new player in the Asian oil and gas exploration space, diversifying the region's energy landscape.
