NexWafe and Talon PV have formed a strategic partnership and wafer supply agreement to advance TOPCon solar manufacturing in the United States.

In a move to bolster next-generation solar manufacturing in the US, German solar technology company NexWafe GmbH and Houston-based Talon PV have announced a strategic partnership and wafer supply agreement. According to the press release, the partnership will see NexWafe provide its proprietary direct gas-to-wafer manufacturing technology to Talon PV, enabling the production of high-efficiency, low-oxygen monocrystalline silicon wafers. These wafers are fully compatible with existing solar cell and module manufacturing processes, positioning them as a key enabler for advanced TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) solar cell technology. 'This partnership represents an important milestone in our efforts to establish NexWafe's innovative technology in the US market,' said Davor Sutija, CEO of NexWafe. 'Talon PV's expertise in solar manufacturing, combined with our leading-edge wafer technology, will help drive the adoption of next-generation solar solutions in the United States.' The move comes as the US solar industry faces supply chain challenges and seeks to bolster domestic manufacturing capabilities. The Biden administration has made renewable energy a key priority, and this partnership aligns with efforts to strengthen the US solar supply chain.
