North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation partners with OATI to implement advanced smart grid platform for rural areas.

North Carolina Electric Membership Corporation (NCEMC), a rural electric cooperative, has announced a partnership with OATI, a leading energy technology provider, to implement a next-generation smart grid platform across its service area. According to the press release, the new system will bring 'one of the country's most advanced and dynamic smart grid platforms' to NCEMC's rural customers in North Carolina. The smart grid upgrades will enable greater grid resilience, improved outage management, and enhanced renewable energy integration. 'This partnership with OATI represents a major step forward in our efforts to modernize the electric grid and deliver reliable, affordable and sustainable power to our member-owners,' said NCEMC CEO, Joe Brannan. 'The advanced capabilities of OATI's technology will provide our co-op with the tools needed to better serve our communities now and into the future.' The project is part of a broader industry trend towards grid modernization, as electric utilities leverage new digital technologies to improve grid operations and enable the transition to renewable energy sources. According to gCaptain, similar smart grid initiatives are underway at other electric cooperatives and municipal utilities across the United States.
