According to a press release from Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste, S.A.B. de C.V. (ASUR), a leading international airport operator, passenger traffic trends were mixed across its Latin American airport network in February 2026. Passenger traffic increased year-over-year by 4.7% at ASUR's airports in Colombia and 1.6% at its Mexican airports. However, traffic declined by 2.1% at the company's airports in Puerto Rico. 'The growth in passenger numbers in Colombia and Mexico reflects the continued recovery of air travel demand in those markets,' said ASUR CEO Javier Vazquez. 'While the decrease in Puerto Rico is concerning, we remain cautiously optimistic about the outlook for the rest of the year as the tourism sector there continues to rebound.' ASUR operates a network of 9 airports across Mexico, 2 in Colombia, and 1 in Puerto Rico. The company is one of the largest private airport operators in Latin America, handling over 55 million passengers annually across its portfolio.
